HARISHCHANDRA PRESS CLUB AND MEDIA FOUNDATION ( HPCAMF ) is India’s first nonprofit organization has been founded with the Intent to accelerate independent journalism, protect the interest and rights of journalists and media freedom and provide wide support related to journalism; to strengthen democracy, improve global ranking and restore the trust of the public on media.

According to the United Nations, “journalism is one of the most dangerous professions in the world.” over the past decade, a journalist has been killed every four days on average. A total of eighty-six killings of journalists worldwide have been reported between 2020 and the end of June 2021.

The Foundation’s aim is to promote independent Journalism and secure editorial independence for free from government, political, corporate, or any other kind of pressure; and to encourage Journalists to do Public Interest journalism, to provide legal and financial support for journalists and protect the interest and rights of journalists and media freedom; and do other necessary activities for journalism in the public interest, without being influenced by any source, including funds, political, personal, or other forces and restore the trust of the public on media.

THE PROBLEM

Today media is becoming a profession, not a service. The sole purpose of journalism should be service. Today there is not a single media institution or platform where technical, legal, financial and other necessary services and support are provided for journalism in the public interest. The freedom of the journalist and writer has now been limited to the desk because the priority of the owner is profit rather than journalism. Today, the voice of the public is being sold in the market for advertising and the media which is the 'fourth pillar of democracy' is slowly losing its credibility.

OUR SOLUTION

Platform for Journalism: Build a mighty platform and support system for journalism and create an opportunity to work in the public interest and provide our digital platform, tools, resources, and other necessary support in the public interest.

Skill Development: Training to young journalists, vocational skills for employment enhancing, internship, and capacity building to develop their journalistic skills and livelihood.

Educational assistance: To provide course materials, notes, manuals, guides and study materials and any other type of educational materials.
