DaanaDharma Trust organizes Several seva- Dharmic events during auspicious times and Kumbh mela is a rare auspicious event celebrated once in 12 years believed to be a time when the waters of the sacred rivers are imbued with divine properties.
Annadanam, holds significant importance during the Kumbh Mela, deeply rooted in Hindu texts and traditions. Here are some key points highlighting its importance Spiritual Merit: According to Hindu scriptures, donating food is one of the highest forms of charity. It is believed to bring immense spiritual merit (punya) to the donor. The act of feeding the hungry is considered a sacred duty and a way to serve God.
The festival is rooted in the ancient Hindu legend of the churning of the ocean of milk (Samudra Manthan). During this event, drops of the nectar of immortality (Amrita) fell at four locations: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. These places are the sites of the Kumbh Mela.
DaanaDharma, Gramalakshmi USA is partnering with "Sri Pancha Dasanam Juna Akhada" Prayagraj to setup a annadaanam stall from Jan 1 st through Feb 28, with 25 volunteers, donating 1000 meals daily.
